Lisa W Long
L isa Long started her professional life with a degree in Costuming from U.C. Davis. She costumed for a frugal year, and then she got a real job. After working in retail, purchasing, production planning and operations management, she opened a MailBoxes Etc. store with her mom Nadine in 1987. In 1997 they left the franchise and “The Carmichael Box Shop” was born.In 2007 Lisa’s friend Jan Sangl bought Nadine’s interest in the store. Jan and her sister Candace have been running the store since then, with the able help of TJ and Dan. Lisa continues to do the bookkeeping and to cheer everyone else on as they restyle and grow the business. Lisa and her husband Dave live in Sacramento with their son, four cats and two dogs in a charming old money-pit of a home. She is currently employed full-time as a Patients’ Rights Advocate for Mental Health Consumers in Sacramento and Yolo Counties. In her spare time she....sleeps.
TJ Michelakos
TJ Michelakos has been with Carmichael Box Shop for almost 5 years. He was a great help in transitioning the shop with the new owners in 2007. Jan Sangl
J an Sangl made the move from a career at The Big Orange Box, The Home Depot, to a recycled cardboard box, when she bought the Carmichael Box Shop with her business partner Lisa Long. This was the perfect opportunity to package Jan’s customer service background with eco-friendly business practices. After 30 years working for corporations, such as Macy’s, May Department Stores, and The Home Depot, it is exciting to be able to think and work “outside the box”. It is also an opportunity to work with her sister, Candace Childs, who manages the Carmichael Box Shop.A native of Seattle, Washington, Jan holds two bachelors degrees, one in Business Administration, and one in Textiles, from Washington State University. When she is not working in the shop she enjoys spending time traveling with her husband, Dan Mincher, and developing LightSmith Design, a landscape lighting design business, as well as floorplans, etc., an internet service for real estate professionals.
