ID Requirements for a Notary Public Stamp

I am doing a notary this weekend for an elderly woman who's license expired in 1994. She does not have a picture id other than that. If we have two witnesses, is that sufficient for me to complete the notary?

Good question, we run into expired IDs quite a bit; in California, the ID presented must be current, it cannot be used if it has expired. You can still complete the notarization if you have two credible witnesses. Each credible witness must have the required ID, as they are in fact, serving as the ID for the person whose ID has expired.

If you are in a state other than California, I recommend checking with your Secretary of State's office for the specific requirements.
