In CA, if an notary public verifies ID of another person concerning transfer of properties in a foreign country, is an entry made in the journal on what type of ID was used?

Notary Journal ID Entry

Great question! State laws vary as to what is required to be entered in the notary journal, and in some states a journal is not used at all.

In California, we are required to enter the type of ID (issuing agency), the number on the ID and its expiration date. CA is also very specific in the types of ID that may be used for ID for a notarization, and they may not be expired (or must have been issued in the last 5 years).
